Trolling Devices as Standard
The propeller can be adjusted to low speeds without altering the speed of the engine, making precise navigation or fixed point sailing easy. Also low fear of wear or overheating during long trolling operation.
Easy Checks and Maintenance
The lubrication oil and fuel filters, fuel caps, dipstick, drain ports and fuel feed pump are all located on the operation side for simple checks and maintenance. And since there is no corragable zinc, thre is not need for troublesome replacements.

One of the features of the JH engine is that it was based on Yanmar's TNV industrial diesel engine. Similarly, the base engine for the 2014 4JH-CR is the latest TNV engine described in the Fall 2015 edition of YANMAR Technical Review. Accordingly, along with the extensive experience acquired from the past JH engine, the new 4JH-CR also incorporates numerous special technologies from Yanmar's industrial and other small diesel engines. The new 4JH-CR also inherits all of the marine electronic control technologies built up by Yanmar over many years (see Fig. 2).
As of the spring of 2016, the four models in the new 4JH-CR product range are the naturally aspirated 4JH45 (33.1kW) and 4JH57 (41.9kW) and the turbocharged 4JH80 (58.8kW) and 4JH110 (80.9kW). As described in section 3.6 below, all models comply with international exhaust emission regulations such as the Tier 3 regulations of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The new models also maintain the same engine dimensions as their predecessors, ensuring that the new 4JH-CRs are suitable for users who want to install them as replacements.

This engine contains many high performance features sure to appeal to the serious motorboater. The overhead cam design develops max hp at higher revs, allowing smaller, smoother running propellers. The engine features 4 valves per cylinder for enhanced breathing and top end performance.
Better fuel and air management
A waste-gated, water-cooled turbo really makes things happen when the throttle is put down hard. To reduce embarrassing black smoke at these times, the 6LPA(2) engine has a boost-compensated distributor-type fuel pump, and burn efficiency has been improved as well.
Reduced vibration and noise
Two stage springs in fuel injectors reduce injection noise. Ladder-frame, full block-width crankshaft bearing cap structure reduces lower block area distortion and fights bearing slap, and of course belt drive makes for big cuts in timing gear noise, while the 12 balance-weight crankshaft and rubber engine mounts soak up much of the usual diesel vibration.
Extras
Ordering the STP2 engine gets you a “go fast package” of bigger oil cooler, gallery cooled pistons and big breathing 4-valve head. Engines can be ordered with optional instrument panels B, C, or D. Panel B mounts the usual tachometer and vital sensors for battery, temperature and oil, but in addition has sensors for, i) fuel/water separator water level. ii) seawater flow at intercooler, and iii) waste-gate valve blockage (boost pressure) Panel C and D offer more sensors again, namely for, iv) heat exchanger fresh water level. The aim is to go faster on less fuel, while at the same time keeping a far better eye on all those vital engine health functions.
